I for so long believed that
When we were together it was
tragically beautiful,
something so perfect it was trite
and exciting,
it was glorious, it was primeval:
written in the planets,
etched into Mars before we were even born.
Our names were stabbed,
melted,
carved desperately
into every mare of the moon,
every storm on Jupiter, turbulent,
still,
beautiful,
perpetual.
